The Alfred ICU is hosting a medical recruitment information evening. We invite medical staff interested in pursuing a career as a registrar, senior registrar or fellow in the Alfred ICU to join us. The night will include presentations from current trainees, CICM supervisors of training, workforce representatives and ICU nursing and medical leadership. The presentations aim to provide insights into the various available positions, career progression and first-hand experiences of the roles – registrar, senior registrar and fellows. A tour of the unit will be offered for those interested. Time will be available to meet the team and ask questions.

The faculty includes multi-disciplinary experts in the management of the critically ill airway, who are also enthusiastic expert educators and simulationists.

Echocardiography is an essential clinical tool for any critical care practitioner. The Alfred ICU runs a two day course on critical care echocardiography limited to 20 participants. The emphasis is on: Practical (TTE) echo skills acquisition – 2:1 participant: instructor ratio Interpreting echo data in the context of critical care scenarios Developing reporting skills. Assisting preparation for formal echocardiography qualifications.

VPECC provides prospective candidates for the CICM primary examination with a 1-day course to develop their exam technique. The course is specifically targeted at CICM trainees who are sitting or intending to sit their primary examination within the next 6 months.

The Alfred ICU Echocardiography faculty is proud to present the “Alfred Comprehensive Critical Care Echocardiography (ACCCE) course” created specifically for the critical care doctor wishing to advance their transthoracic echocardiography skills and knowledge beyond a basic level 1 study.
