The Alfred ICU staff members are influential key opinion leaders in intensive care, shaping the delivery of patient-centred care globally. We have a significant online presence through resources such as publications, conference presentations, in-person and simulation teaching, and online resources (intensiveblog.com).

The Centre is renowned for its unparalleled contributions to knowledge generation, dissemination, and translation.

Our vision is to improve the outcomes of consumers and families by promoting the application of evidence -based patient -focused best practice in intensive care medicine., via a world-class academic centre embedded within Alfred Health, and in partnership with other stakeholders.

The Alfred Intensive Care Academic Centre aspires to be an Academic Centre of Excellence. Our aim is to lead intensive care education, research and clinical practice globally, with the goal of positively impacting patient care within Australia and overseas. 

More specifically, The Alfred Intensive Care Academic Centre's mission is to:

• generate patient-focused research outputs that can be seamlessly translated into clinical practice
• deliver internationally recognised internal and external education opportunities for all the ICU team members
• promote high-quality safe clinical practice, via regular audit, reporting and guideline publication
• represent, connect and advocate for all ICU staff members, patients and families.
