Alfred Academic Centre Researchers Featured in Top 10 Papers at the ANZICS-ACCCN ASM

We’re proud to share that three publications by researchers at the Alfred Academic Centre have been featured in the Top 10 papers, as highlighted by Paul Young from Clinical Care Research (CCR) at the ANZICS-ACCCN Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM).

CHEER3: Advancing ECMO Access Beyond Hospital Walls

The Alfred is the first hospital in Australasia to incorporate a revolutionary clinical trial using portable cardiopulmonary bypass machines outside of the hospital. The program, in partnership with Ambulance Victoria and called CHEER3, is a feasibility study which provides lifesaving extra corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) machines not only throughout the hospital, but in the community – in our parks, on our streets, in our homes.

International Educational Opportunities

The Alfred Intensive Care Academic Centre now offers bespoke educational courses tailored to specific healthcare systems.  This involves partnering with an organisation and deploying course faculty and resources to the chosen location. The advantage of this approach is that it allows for the training of a large number of healthcare workers in their own environment, leveraging existing teams and infrastructure.
