CCR Down Under 2025 Program Announced

Led by Professor Rob Mac Sweeney, CCR Down Under brings together the world’s leading clinicians, researchers, journal editors, statisticians and allied health professionals to debate, challenge and unpack the results of eight landmark trials shaping the future of critical care.

  1. A/ Professor Ary Serpa Neto : Active Trial: Effect of automated closed-loop ventilation versus conventional ventilation on duration and quality of ventilation in critically ill patients.
  2. Professor Michael Reade:CLIPP II Trial : Cryopreserved vs Liquid Platelets for Surgical Bleeding.
  3. Professor Evangelos J. Giamarellos-Bourboulis: immunosep: Treatment of sepsis through a precision-medicine approach.
  4. Dr Angelique de Man & Dr Sander Rozemeijer: VITaCCA Trial  – Early high-dose vitamin C in post-cardiac arrest syndrome.
  5. Professor Brenda O’Neill & Professor Danny McAuley: iRehab Trial:  Remote multicomponent rehabilitation compared to standard care for survivors of critical illness after hospital discharge.
  6. A/Professor Matthew Semler  & Dr Jonathan Casey RSI Trial – Randomized Trial of Sedative choice for Intubation.
  7. Professor Arthur Kwizera: ARISE AFRICA Trail -  Respiratory support with standard low-flow oxygen therapy, high-flow oxygen therapy or continuous positive airway pressure in adults with acute hypoxaemic respiratory failure in a resource-limited setting.
  8. Prof Carol Hodgson & Dr Lisa Higgins  ECMO Rehab Trial-  Aims to determine if early rehabilitation commenced within 72 hours of ECMO is feasible and improves muscle strength and functional status in patients compared to standard practice.
