Sabbatical/ Honorary positions for overseas applicants

Length of visits

This pathway cannot be used for short-term commitments. The visit must last for a minimum of 3 and up to 6 months.

The application process must commence at 8-12 months before you visit the Alfred ICU.

Requirements

• These positions are open to Consultants only.
• Applicants will have recently completed or plan to complete the Alfred/VECMOS ECMO Course in the early part of their visit (for an ECMO visit).
• Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English.
• Successful applicants will have to apply for AHPRA (Australian medical registration) registration and a temporary working VISA.

Applying for Sabbatical/Honorary positions as an overseas applicant

To apply you must complete the application form and upload the following documents:

• A letter of objective with intended dates of visit
• Your Curriculum Vitae  
• A letter of support from the Head of your home hospital

Upon ICU Committee approval, the Hospital Medical Workforce Department will contact you for additional documentation and to assist with your VISA and AHPRA registration.
