Steps in the application process

We receive a significant number of interested applicants every year and the number of  Alfred ICU Sabbatical/ Honorary and observership positions is limited.

Applicants are required to submit all necessary information and undergo a formal recruitment process.

To clarify the application process, we have developed the following steps:

Step 1

Review the available options for visiting the Alfred Hospital Intensive Care Unit:

Sabbatical/Honorary positions:

Step 2

Complete the application form and upload the following documents:

  • a letter of objectives with intended visiting dates
  • your Curriculum Vitae
  • a letter of support from your Unit Director.

Step 3

The Alfred ICU Committee meets (quarterly meeting) to consider your application.

Step 4

You are informed of the Committee's decision.

Step 5

If you are successful, you will be asked to attend an interview.

Step 6

Observership positions:

If your application is successful following the interview, we will then submit your file to our Hospital Medical Workforce Department for final approval and your official acceptance letter.

Sabbatical/Honorary positions:

Following the interview, if your application is shortlisted, the Medical Workforce Department will contact you directly to outline the next steps and request additional documentation. Your appointment will then be submitted to the next Hospital Medical Appointment Committee (MAC) for final approval.
