Laura Joined the Alfred ICU as a Critical Care Registered Nurse in 2016. Her roles included bedside Nursing, MET responder and as part of the Hyperbaric team.
In 2020 Laura took a side step into the world of Oncology and Haematology where she commenced her career as a Research Nurse working largely on commercial pharmaceutical trials. Missing the critical care environment, Laura returned to the Alfred ICU as a research Nurse in 2023. Laura feels passionately about the role of research in improving the care and outcomes for our patients. In her spare time, Laura is passionate about good food, frequenting the local farmers market and is always planning her next hiking trip.

Jasmin first joined The Alfred as an ICU nurse in 2005, where she completed the Diploma in Critical Care Nursing (ICU). In 2009, she moved across to the ICU research team as a research nurse.
Jasmin completed her Masters in Public Health in 2015. Special interests include traumatic brain injury, physiotherapy, and nutrition research. She loves the challenge of a difficult governance application. She enjoys wordsmithing, one-liners, and baking.

Aidan is an Intensivist at The Alfred. He initially trained in vascular surgery, before moving into intensive care medicine.
Aidan's research interests have focussed on acute cardio-respiratory failure diseases, critical care ultrasound and COVID-19. He completed fellowships in cardiac transplantation in 2012, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) in Germany in 2015, and a research sabbatical in Berlin in 2022. He is currently investigating oxygen toxicity during VA ECMO in the BLENDER trial, the use of VV ECMO in moderate respiratory failure in the REDEEM trial, and is the Australian clinical lead for REMAP-CAP. He strongly believes in medical education, as the more he learns, the more he realises he doesn't know.

Annie is an ICU research nurse at the Alfred. She completed her training in London at Guys and St Thomas’ in London in 1998 and has worked in ICU for over 24 years.
Annie joined The Alfred in 2003 and has held various roles including Clinical Nurse Specialist, Hyperbaric Nurse, Associate Nurse Manager, Clinical Nurse Educator and Clinical Nurse Consultant.
She assists patients who have experienced ECMO (Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) to participate in research and manages the Alfred data for the EXCEL Registry. She is currently a VECMOS Data, Quality and Research Sub Committee member. She finds following up with patients after discharge the most insightful and rewarding part of the role.
Outside work, Annie volunteers with scouts, assisting with water sports, outdoor activities and camping.

Emma is a Research Co-ordinator on the Alfred ICU team. She has been at The Alfred since 2016, when she completed her BSc in Pharmaceutical Science at RMIT University.
Emma has recently completed her Master's degree in Public Health at Monash University. She is very passionate about providing the very best care to patients through high-quality research and being able to facilitate patients and their families' participation in research. Outside of work, Emma enjoys spending time outdoors, going on hikes and spending time with her dog, Doug.

Andrew is Head of Research at The Alfred ICU, and Deputy Director, Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Research Centre - Monash University.
Andrew's research interests include traumatic brain injury, sepsis, and ECMO. He is passionate about supporting trainees/early-career clinician-scientists, and increasing diversity in clinical research. He is a proud product of Aotearoa New Zealand.

Meredith is the Clinical Research Manager of the Intensive Care Unit at Alfred Health and an ANZIC-RC Affiliate at Monash University . She has 10 years of experience as a research coordinator in the ICU setting.
Meredith has contributed to numerous clinical trials, such as pilot investigator-initiated studies, sponsored pharmaceutical trials, and extensive collaborative projects within Critical Care networks.
Before joining the Alfred ICU Research team, she worked as a project manager of the PHARLAP and ICU RECOVERY studies and as a Senior Study Coordinator with the landmark ASPREE Trial. She completed her masters in Public Health in 2012.
Outside of work Meredith sings in a pop choir. She is a keen traveller and can be found at the footy most weekends.
