The Alfred ICU Research offers unique opportunities through research exposure and training.

The Alfred ICU supportive Research team can facilitate research exposure and training with Monash University.

This can include completing higher research degrees (Masters/PhD), where appropriate. Our team includes several senior researchers, who are experienced in providing supervision and mentoring across various topics. We can also facilitate access to various local, national, and international ICU datasets, and completion of required documentation.

Our research covers a range of disciplines- including nursing, physiotherapy, dietetics, pharmacy, and medicine, amongst others. National and international candidates are encouraged to enquire.

What we can offer

The Alfred ICU is highly regarded as a research centre nationally and internationally. More specifically, we can offer access to research experts and infrastructure, particularly in highly specialised clinical interventions such as ECMO, traumatic brain injury, heart and lung transplant, burns and hyperbaric services. The Alfred ICU Research team has extensive experience in performing research in this setting. Guidance and assistance can be provided on protocol synthesis, regulatory approvals, data collection, and resourcing.

Eligibility criteria

We encourage those meeting the following criteria to enquire about a research position with The Alfred ICU:

  • Good command of written and verbal English.
  • Completed or near-complete ICU training.
  • Eligible to work in Australia.
  • Passionate and enthusiastic about research.
